A Perfect Gift

A Perfect Gift

I’ve made my list!  I’ve written down the names of those I love, Then scribbled in beside each name some gifts I’m thinking of. I want to choose a perfect gift for each name written there— A gift that each will treasure, one that shows my love and care.   But there remains one name by which no gift is written in, For what have I to offer Him Who saved me from my sin?   “Oh, Lord,” I sighed, “the earth and all within it are Your own,... See in the Manger - A

See in the Manger - A

See in the manger a baby small, ward of a woman, yet Lord of all! Great King of Kings on a throne of hay—ruler, yet born to obey.   On this, Your birthday, O Infant King, though we’ve no offering of gold to bring, In full submission we bow our knee—King of our hearts You shall be!     And there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever. ... See in the Manger - B

See in the Manger - B

See in the manger an infant mild, Almighty God as a tiny child! Natures of God and of man within, sinless, yet bearing our sin!   On this, Your birthday, Incarnate Son, censers of frankincense bring we none . . . Yours was the sacrifice—we but wait!  New life within us create!     Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He hath put Him to grief:  when Thou shalt make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of... See in the Manger - C

See in the Manger - C

See in the manger a little life, Peace of the earth, born to scorn and strife; Judge, yet to Him will the curse apply; Giver of life, born to die.   On this, Your birthday, O Saviour sweet, we bring no myrrh to anoint Your feet; Our lives, instead, are the gifts we give; dying with You, we shall live!     I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live: yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.  Galatians 2:20   Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the... The Wonder of Christmas

The Wonder of Christmas

Isn't it a wonder . . .   If I could choose to live a life of sweetest peace and rest . .  . If I could be where all is good, where good by all is blessed . . . If I could from all sickness, sin, and sorrow be made free . . . If I would jump at such a chance, it would no wonder be!   But if the King of heav’n and earth should from His throne depart For no reward except to rule and reign within my heart . . . And if the Judge of all the world should step into my place... Read more

Seekers

Seekers

Wise men in the eastern regions searched the sky and saw a star. Thus began a tale of seekers told today both near and far.   See the seekers as they travelled, leaving comforts all behind. Mindless of the journey’s perils, they set out the King to find.   In their quest they came to Herod, hoping for some knowledge new. Herod, learning of their vision, soon became a seeker too!   He, in turn, asked priests and elders what the Holy Scriptures said, So they joined the list... Read more
