I’ve made my list! I’ve written down the names of those I love,
Then scribbled in beside each name some gifts I’m thinking of.
I want to choose a perfect gift for each name written there—
A gift that each will treasure, one that shows my love and care.
But there remains one name by which no gift is written in,
For what have I to offer Him Who saved me from my sin?
“Oh, Lord,” I sighed, “the earth and all within it are Your own,
And I’ve already given You my heart to be Your throne.
All that I have has come from You—what could You need from me?
Is there a perfect gift for You? Oh, Lord, what would it be?”
I lifted up my eyes and saw my Bible lying there—
I searched its pages sweet, and found the answer to my prayer:
Sing songs of praise unto the Lord and tell His wondrous ways;
He shall be pleased and shall accept this sacrifice of praise!
Declare His works, and with thanksgiving magnify His Name;
His strength and glory tell aloud, and give Him due acclaim!
A perfect gift! And it’s a gift that even I can give!
So little for so much--so I will praise Him while I live!
May your heart overflow with praise as you celebrate Christ’s birth!
I will praise the Name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the Lord better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. Psalm 69:30-31
Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing. Psalm 107:21-22
Give unto the Lord . . . glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His Name. Psalm 96:7-8a
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold . . . But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. . . . Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:18-19, 2:5
By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His Name. Hebrews 13:15.
While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. Psalm 146:2
And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. Psalm 40:3.
