The Gift Is Ours

With parties, cake, and candles, and with laughter, fun, and mirth,

Today’s the day you celebrate the moment of your birth.

And in the kindest little ways, by thoughtful things they do,

Your friends and loved ones all will celebrate this day with you.

But on your birthday, we’re the ones who truly celebrate,

For we’re the ones to whom the gift was given on this date!

You are a sweet reminder of God’s tender love and care,

A cherished treasure He bestowed in answer to our prayer.

Throughout the years you’ve grown more precious with each passing day—

What joy we find in mem’ries that we’ve saved and tucked away!

Our hearts are blessed as we reflect on days that are behind,

To see that in your life God’s love and grace were intertwined.

And as we look ahead, we see a hope-filled future, too,

For mercies past are tokens of the things God yet will do.

All this, today, we celebrate; but there is more, you see—

For we will have you to enjoy throughout eternity!

May the joy you receive on your birthday be as sweet as the joy you give!
