Sketches from Church History by S.M. Houghton is a 245-page, illustrated discussion of the events and people who have been instrumental in the formation and preservation of Christianity. It is written from the Protestant perspective and begins with the early church. It chronicles the spread of the Gospel and the development of Biblical understanding in Europe and then in America. This is an exciting and inspiring book written in an interesting style appropriate to middle school or high school students. It would be a great choice for a book report book, or it can be used as a one-semester history and/or Bible elective using the Sketches from Church History Student Workbook
